Marriage is a sacred institution ordained by God (Genesis 2:18-24) and a divine call whereby a man and a woman enter a covenant of filial relationship geared towards a lifelong partnership and procreation. Marriage is a covenant of love in which a man and a woman pledge to live together in mutual love and fidelity all the days of their lives. It is not a human invention, it is of divine origin. Christ stresses the indissolubility of marriage. Jesus says: "Man must not divide what God has united." (2012 Bible Diary)
