Came back last Friday quite exhausted after a week of multiple trips and visits. I’m impressed of how I managed to follow my steps to various places and activities in a week. But all in all, it was an amazing, awesome and interesting experience for me. So, here is a brief jotting down of the past week – a physical and spiritual journey at the same time. Awesome!!

Jan 21 Saturday

Went to Ida’s house in Tuaran - waited for a group to arrive – went with a group of teacher trainees in their 20s by van to Tambunan – arrived at the Retreat Center around 4p.m. – Joined with other 230 plus participants - sessions began at 5p.m. and ended at 10p.m – stayed in a room of seven people (with double-decker beds ).

Jan 22 Sunday

Woke up at 5a.m and got ready for first session at 6a.m. – followed sessions till 10p.m. (mostly on reconciliation and inner healing).

Jan 23 Monday

Followed sessions as usual till afternoon – went with the same group by van to Tuaran – stayed at Ida’s house – had discussion with her over the next day activity.

Jan 24 Tuesday

Went to Tenghilan - met the Church youths and visited the sick - attended Chinese New Year celebration.

Jan 25 Wednesday

Visited Chel at her newly custom-built house in Tuaran – helped Ida with wedding backdrop at the parish hall in late evening.

Jan 26 Thursday

Attended wedding blessing of Ida’s sister at the church – packed for the next trip to Kuala Penyu with Jo and Joe – dropped by Papar town for grocery shopping – went straight to the Retreat Center in Kuala Penyu - went for evening walk at the beach - barbeque dinner at the center with the community – Adoration at 12a.m – 1a.m. in the chapel.

Jan 27 Friday

Rosary with the community at 7a.m – breakfast – went for morning walk at the beach – visited Kuala Penyu town (crossed the river by boat) – back to the Retreat Center – rest and lunch - headed home with Jo and Joe around 3p.m.

Jan 28 Saturday

Sent mom to swap meet at 6a.m. – accompanied mom for grocery shopping – went to see cousin for sewing assignment – attended birthday party of relatives – attended Church service at 6p.m – went to bed at 9p.m.

Jan 29 Sunday

Woke up at 5a.m – Baked some cakes – sent cake to cousin as a gift – met Des and Ash in town for coffee break – home (laundry, cleaning etc… ).

Jan 30 Monday

Remembering Ivan today on his birthday. Will cut my homemade cake for him - celebrating on my own as we're apart thousand of miles from each other. Saying special prayers for him and for all the good things in his life.

Will be away again for a few days for some help needed - hoping to finish my 3 books reading assignments.

A decision of all decisions has been made and I'm content. So, I'm taking my time to go to this mountainous place deeper in the woods for few days. A place without communication lines but it's good to explore and listen to the sound of nature - be at peace with myself and my surrounding. I won't be alone but will be going with a group who also long for the same kind of spiritual encounter with the Creator. This is an opportunity I shouldn't let go.

Spent sometime watching a beautiful movie that depicts the life of Blessed Teresa of Calcutta and let myself be inspired by her act of charity and courage as well as her daily life virtues. The strength from within and the ability to see, hear and feel beyond, can only be obtained through a deeper relationship with our Creator. Always and forever, this humble soul inspires me to live life to the fullest and give the best of me. I'm challenged as to see and compare my life so far - it's not easy to come out from one's own selfish wants and needs. That is the greatest challenge to face and fight. We need a different kind of courage and bravery - the kind that this Little Flower had.

A day had gone. Fell asleep and woke up at midnight. It had been a day with unexpected encounter with few unfamiliar things. I got a call in the morning if I could come to see this person. I dressed up as I should be and went to see her in her office. I was offered to coach some adults for their 100 hours English training at a place near my hometown - plus the pay is good and only on weekends. I'm still thinking and waiting if things are possible for me to do so at this time. But this encounter was an amazing experience. How I went without doubt. Arrived on time of the scheduled meeting with her. Went by taxi and picked up by the same driver who obviously had a good day with good pay. Met my former student of years ago and her company who just finished their university course and heading for practical, desperately looking for a place to stay around the area. I could only suggest them with some options and hope that they would be able to find one. Also met my cousin on her way to a nearby town and I took the chance to ask her to buy something for me - Toppin' Pride which is 'ready to whip topping' for my cake making later. Something to make her smile because I'm going to invite her for experiment tasting. ....... It was just unexpected day for me.

There are visits to fulfill, postcards to purchase and send, photos to edit and put in CD for someone, files and folders to arrange, account to make, cake to bake, etc.. - these are all in my head. I can't wait for them to get done but these are ongoing matters and I can only expect to complete a portion for the moment.

Life is full of suspense sometimes. We can only predict what is to come - but the outcome is in Someone's hands.

My sister and her family came over to visit today and brought some letters for me as I'm using her address for correspondence. One of them is a lovely card from Ivan. It's actually a card with Margarita recipe. I'm so happy to receive something from him at this time. Seems like we're going back to the olden days when we had no computer and internet - relying solely on post office as the cheapest mean of communicating with each other. It's just so nice to keep our relationship as sweet as before. I still have his first card and the rest.

I'm already anticipating the coming of Valentine's Day but unsure if we can celebrate it together. Anyhow, we're putting every effort to cherish each other each day through the phone and internet. At least it's not that bad to be apart from each other thousands of miles like this. We had gone through it and probably we will again - but we're ready because we have learned to make use of our precious time to cherish each other - whether we're together or away from each other.

Today, I also had a good time with my niece and nephews. It's tiring to babysit but it was just so fun to see them laugh, scream and running in the yard - mingling around with the chicken and our watch dogs. Such simple life the children have is so liberating. By just watching them, I'm inspired to stop complaining - life is too short to fret and grumble over things.

So, we'd better use every of our moments well in appreciation and gratefulness - that we may not live and leave in regrets.

Today went by so fast. Spent sometimes in the kitchen with my mom preparing for lunch. We in fact went out early to town to get some items for the cooking. I just realized that it was the birthday of one of my friends who would be coming over for a visit in the afternoon. So, I thought it would be nice to throw a little good lunch for his birthday. I prepared linguine and my mom prepared two other local dishes. They came over and it was good to be able to get back to old friends, listening to their stories and updates.

Later in the late afternoon, after they went back, my mom and I made a dessert of pumpkin porridge with coconut milk. I called my cousin, also our nearest neighbor to come over and have the dessert with us. She came with her daughter and granddaughter.

Today was a good Sunday - in company with some friends and relatives. I thought to myself - how nice it would be if I can afford my time to have simple occasion like this every weekend. It's so different - between having people around you in persons and having them just in our thoughts. And I think house is the best venue to enjoy their presence and company. It adds to the meaning of a real home.

Having some insights today but I'm still offered with options of what to do next. They're all good. So, I'm just waiting for time to tell which is the best to take. But at least I'm relieved to know that I have a destiny to pursue for this year.

These few days were supposed to be, for me to sort out and arrange my papers, files and folders. But I just couldn't sit down and I'm not supposed to complain for being unable to find the time to do them. There are always reasons behind the time constraints.

Yesterday, my parents and I went to visit an uncle who was hospitalized. I knew it wasn't supposed to be delayed. So, we made the move as quick as possible. I drove to the hospital which is about 40 minutes away. Was glad that we made it on time for visiting hour. Then, in the evening I went to pick up my sister in town, who came back for a weekend break from a far rural school.

Today, I woke up as early as 5:30 in the morning to send my mom to the swap meet. At home, I tried to find the right location around the house to do my work. I tidied one corner and I found myself cleaning and tidying the whole house. By the time I finished cleaning, it was already afternoon. I spent sometime checking my emails and surfing for info. In the evening, I went to church with my parents to replace the next day's. So, I haven't been doing what I want to do. Tomorrow, I'm expecting some friends to come over.

But, for unexplainable reason, I'm actually happier to be able to do something to make things also available for others - visiting and comforting a sick relative and his family, helping my parents to get around, making the house comfortable for everyone. I didn't waste my time for nothing.

Besides all these, I had a good time running with my watch dogs. They always follow me whenever I go out for a walk. So, I made them run with me. Even these dogs need the master's time for care and attention. Well, as I see it, we shouldn't complain so much. Life is alive and wonderful if we take time to see and listen - BEYOND...

Torn between two - I'm beginning to miss my parents, family and friends again. At the same time my second home as I'm still a little reluctant to call it my first, is calling me home. One may say, this is the price I have to pay for going too far from home. Communication via phone and internet is unable to replace the presence of your loved ones in persons - physically. But at least it's so much a consolation to be able to see each others' updates every moment - and at least there is not so much longing to be with each other. We can still communicate even if we're a few inches away from our beds and thousands of miles away from each other. I beg God not to take away these facilities!

So, a decision has been made though with heavy heart and unsure of what is waiting next and I have very limited time. This life is full of options and I need to pick one. I have picked what I think is mine and I should do. I still don't dare yet to say but again tomorrow will lead my way.

I found myself tempted so much to stay longer here in my hometown - like half to a year. I see so many reasons to stay but when I think of Ivan, he's actually the most important reason of why I should go back as planned. Both are heavy to consider but the latter seems to give me more peace of mind. Once we had been separated for a year and a half, and a married friend said 'at least we have each other' though they came from different and far distant countries - now I realize how crucial it is to be with each other. We're companions to each other on the journey. We need each other to face this life together - with someone who knows you and whom you can talk to in depth. I find it so funny and yet overwhelming when he narrated to me how he found this church sign with the writing.

Came back two days earlier from my aka soul adventure but I didn't have time left to go back to this page. I had urgent report to do and spent almost two days to complete it. Finishing my work at midnights, I had no more strength to lift up my eyes - I laid flat 'unconsciously' till morning. So, here goes the brief story..

So, just as the next day tells me where to go, I followed my steps. I actually went back to the woods by the seaside. I also went out to my former hometowns and had glimpses of my old elementary schools. There was no regret for not having my camera with me since I had a good time gazing on them - recalling the little me and some friends playing around the schools.

At the retreat center, I volunteered to help around with the chores. There were lots of works to do and I couldn't bear letting the four community members to do everything by themselves on a huge land with double storey hostel and house. We were fortunate to have a group of 30 people, who came over for 'gotong-royong' (working together) cleaning the land. With so many people, we had to be in the kitchen preparing for food. We were later loaded with food lasted for days. We received providence from above through these people who brought many kinds of local fruits, vegetables, rice, ..etc.

On the night, before leaving the next day, we had the 'Three Wise Men' aka 'Epiphany' celebration with barbecue and exchanging of gifts. There were only six of us but it was fun and merrier.

Though we were loaded with works, we never missed the silent meditation at 6:00 a.m to 7:00am and some other times of the day at 6:30p.m to 7:30p.m. and 12:00 midnight to 1:00 a.m. Occasionally we would come to the chapel and sit in silence at 3:00p.m. depending on the program of the day.

This kind of soul adventure - I would like to repeat for many more times. My days were worth spent at the center.

Packed for tomorrow - which will tell me where to head for. I'm actually still uncertain but I set my heart I must go and take the chance. Will drive our family car and supposed to head for this place which is without internet connection - though I'll be bringing my laptop. Again, tomorrow will tell me where to go - should I or should I not. As for now, I've packed and need to rest earlier. I will have to wake up very early tomorrow. So, off I go now to hit the sack - entrusting tomorrow in God's hands.

Went through all my papers, sorting out for tomorrows - though tomorrows are uncertain. I can only predict that this year is going to be a lot of traveling, working, meeting with people - keeping my both feet on the ground. Will have to stay away from cyberspace for uncertain period of time not because I want to but am forced to - due to the nature of my travel living here. Besides, I'm missing some good moments of contemplation like gazing on mother nature and will not let that interrupted. Probably this year my life is going to focus more on simplicity and excellency. Tomorrow will tell.

Called Ivan today at 4p.m wishing him and everyone at home in CA a happy new year of 2012. Today marks a new beginning of another journey for me. A decision plus resolution I'm making with the consent of him and our families. This week and perhaps the next will determine the destination of my journey. Whatever it takes, it's hoped to be the best for me and others in my life. It's pretty exciting though and probably more adventurous.

As for now, I just move moment to moment - trusting in the guidance from above. I pray for our safe journey through the year 2012 - body and soul.

I remember being here at the same place - at my family home, last year on new year 2011. Now it's like the whole year has gone in a blink of an eye. So, for those years gone in my life, I have learned a lot about the fact in making resolution for new year. While it's good to have many more years to come, it also means that we're getting closer to the reality of who we are and where we go. That's all about my resolution for the new year 2012 - to be more aware of what I'm deciding each moment - will it bring good or bad - I need to know that it's going to be the best decision for me and others - equally. It won't be easy to get rid of my own sole way of thinking and get even with others'. It means exercising more understanding and forbearance towards myself and others.

We had an impromptu open house today. It's hard to plan for a party or gathering when at this season and time, almost everyone you know is occupied with so many occasions - weddings, funerals, works and personal matters. So I made it simple. I called some friends if they were free to come. Then after they said yes, I did the cooking right before they came so that they would have it straight from the pot. So, we just had the famous Italian pasta - spaghetti, nuggets, cake roll, swirl cake, local cakes, pudding, sodas and cookies. We had a good time for which I didn't bother to take some photographs as not to interrupt our conversations.

During the week, I had very limited time to do my own works but it was worth to spend my time for others.

The funeral Mass went smoothly for my late grandaunt. The church was packed with family members, relatives and friends. In fact, it was a beautiful and overwhelming ceremony. Life is done for her here on earth - may she rest in peace.

It was rare that we could gather together like this as we are all busy with works and responsibilities. I'm beginning to realize that our family circle is getting bigger. It was also a chance for me to get to know other relatives whom I haven't met before.

This morning I was awakened by the news that my grandaunt has gone to the Lord - she passed away yesterday's evening. Visited her few weeks ago. She had already told us that her time was near. She had been a faithful Church goer even towards her ripe old age. Now at the age of 88 she went in peace.

In honor of her, we the grandnieces and grandnephews will sing in the choir - for her funeral Mass in the church tomorrow. Our aunts requested us to dress in white and black. So, we had our choir practice in the late evening today. We seemed a little tired but we sang quite well and the practice went smoothly. We will have to be in the church earlier tomorrow morning.

Such an honor given to her and I think this is how one should leave - an ordinary person who had lived and completed her life accordingly - went to the Lord on blessed Christmas season.

Taking a big leap of faith today to decide something for the new year. Life is like in a tunnel - journeying patiently to its end - waiting to be set free.

My life is full of WAITING as we all are. When is the very moment in our lives that we stop waiting? Life is always full of anticipation. We don't know for sure what tomorrow will lead us to but we all need FAITH to continue this journey of life - Faith accompanied by Love for humanity.

That is what Christmas is all about. It's the gift of One's life to another. This will be my greatest challenge for the year to come - I'm contemplating.

Today is public holiday. We spent time at home resting and watching movies. As for me, I tried to use my time fruitfully - taking a nap, cleaning a little, updating some news and sending greetings online, making calls. As usual time went so fast, it was already evening. We're still on Christmas mood of course - though it's still work for me. I do have a long list of things to be done before the new year. I may have to go back to the getaway place 'in the woods by the seaside' I call it. It's definitely the best place to do my accounting and filing jobs. Hoping I would be able to do so again before leaving.

This week is all about Christmas celebration - personally and communally for us believers.

We went to church this morning celebrating Christmas. Then followed by visits to our relatives' houses. It was an exhausting but fun day - meeting some of them whom we hadn't met for years. They had good food and karaoke. When I got home, I was hoping to take a nap but there was a change of plan. My sister decided to come home with her family and the gift exchange had to be done tonight as they will have to go back the next day. So, I prepared the dining tables while my sisters went out to buy KFC and pizza. I couldn't eat much anymore as we had lots of food in the afternoon. I'm touched by the family reunion of my relatives. It was a fruitful Christmas celebration today.

Woke up at 5:30 a.m. sending my mom to the swap meet in town. While waiting for the salon to open at 9, I spent quite sometime in the car - exhausted and fell asleep for a while. I went to bed late at 12:30 a.m. last night.

At home I spent sometime wrapping my Christmas presents for our family. Time went so fast and it was already late afternoon. So, I got up to get myself ready for the Christmas Eve Mass occasion in church. We went an hour earlier but we weren't the earliest people to come. By the time we arrived, the church was full inside and outside. But we were lucky to find a line of empty seats at the camp prepared outside. After the Mass, I went straight to the crib to say a little prayer and pay my respect.

We also went to the bazaar in the hall buying food with our coupons. Last year, we had dinner after the Christmas eve Mass but tonight we had our own dinner at home - sharing the food we bought from the bazaar.

Though still feeling physically exhausted, we'll attend the next day's Christmas Mass at church. We have an invitation to a relative's house after the Mass. So, tomorrow is going to be a long day of Christmas visit.

It was supposed to be a week spiritual breakaway but I decided to stay longer for few more days. It was such an overwhelming experience. Ten days are just too short but I’m back fresh and renewed after getting in touch with myself – with God and nature. The experience is beyond description and I come home filled with peace – such a complete preparation for celebrating Christmas.

In between the silence, I had some unexpected encounters with new people who came to the center. Though they only came on the weekend, getting to know each other in such a short time was like having known each other for years – especially when they knew you even before they met you – as if they were sent to listen to me. I’m glad He cared through them - also through the caring community who is like my own family.

Towards the end, I had the opportunity to help around for Advent visit from around 60 carolers. We spent an hour sitting in silence and prayer before the carols. Then later they performed a long list of Advent songs – followed by meals and exchanging of gifts.

On the last day - today, two friends came to pick me up. Hidden somewhere close by, it wasn’t easy to find this remote place but they found their way here. So, we had lunch together with the community.

Though unsure of what will happen next, I came out from the woods assured with some strength to face the future of my life and home career.

I found a place where to go for a week break - deep in the woods - by the seaside. A place of complete silence and away from internet line. I will have to find the right spot to communicate with my cell. Anyhow, it's good for me to de-stress and relax - both body and mind.

Woke up a bit late this morning - feeling a little exhausted after yesterday's photo shooting activity. In fact my sister felt it too. Didn't know it was such a hectic job especially when you have to do almost everything by yourself. Now, I have the urgent need to listen to my body claiming for a really good rest - away from internet and phone calls. So, let tomorrow decide where to go - for me to disappear into the silence for a period of time.

I was awakened by my mom this morning at 5:40. I was supposed to wake up but I didn’t hear my alarm. I jumped off my bed, ironed my shirt and jeans, got ready and drove to the swap meet in town - sending my mom. I also bought something for breakfast at home. When I came home, my aunt and cousins were already there waiting for me. So we had breakfast together before we started our fashion photo-shooting today.

I was fortunate to get help from my sister to do the make-up and hairstyles. She also helped with photo taking when my camera was run out of battery. While charging and she took pictures of them, I prepared lunch in the kitchen.

Our photo shooting went smooth today – thanks for the fine weather. There is going to be a lot of editing jobs for me though. So, today, I had been a driver, instructor, photographer and cook. Right now I can barely open my eyes. At least we had done with the fashion project today. Thanks to my teenage cousins for contributing their time and materials – with their up to date sense of fashion and of course their natural beauty - also my sister for the make-up touch, my aunt who was there to give her moral support and the rest in my family today for their warm hospitality.

It's an exhausting day today doing some project preparation for tomorrow. Somehow I finished decorating the Christmas tree. The crib is on its way. It's late and I have to wake up very early tomorrow.

I didn't have time to open my computer today. I hope to wake up fresh though so that I can do my best tomorrow. I haven't had the rest and recreation I wanted. I have to go and rest now.

So much of Christmas spirit that today in the late afternoon, I put on Christmas music with some traditional songs to ponder upon, among others - 'Hark! The Herald Angels Sing', 'Angel We Have Heard On High', 'Infant Holy, Infant Lowly', 'It Came Upon The Midnight Clear', 'Go Tell On The Mountain' and 'Silent Night, Holy Night'. Then, suddenly the feeling of Christmas anticipation was on everyone in the house. Some joined in to sing along with the music. We hoped to be able to do our family carols on Christmas night.

So, I took out our Christmas ornaments and put them on a Christmas tree, with my sister. We'll have to continue the decoration project tomorrow.

Went to a nearby church with my mom early this morning - partly her request. We were on time to catch the prayer gathering at 6:30. The church was packed with youths who are under training - they're the Montfort Boys.

Then, we went to town and had breakfast. Also did some grocery shopping.

At home I juggled within a short period of time doing some works on the computer. Then, I was on the road again driving our Myvi to the car wash. My sister came with me so the waiting wasn't a boring one. We had plenty to chat about and magazines waiting to be glanced through.

Later at home, we had a visit from the community, to pray together with us for the preparation of Christmas. We had been informed a day earlier. So, we prepared some local desserts to be shared together after the prayer. We're actually closely related - they're my uncle, aunts and cousin. My uncle gave a beautiful sharing on his personal experience being involved in Church charity - that he feels happier in serving the church, and things in his life are way better under control as he spends more time in prayer and reflection.

We had fun listening to each other's funny stories - as they stayed longer to spend sometime with us - which is also a rare opportunity to sit together like this.

Taking sometime today to draw away my attention from the computer to nature, outside the house - exploring my mom's little garden. It's pretty amazing to notice some species of flora which are hidden among other plants and grasses - growing wild with different shapes and colors. Some of them are tiny and cute.

Obsessed with works - that we forget what the nature around us looks like - no wonder we have headaches sometimes if not often. Be amazed and immersed in the beauty of nature - we'll be surprised by what we receive in return. With the gift of peace and tranquility, we're able to stay calm, relaxed and be at peace with ourselves and others - in the midst of chaos at times.

This morning I sent my mom to town to buy groceries and my sister to the bus stand - for her to go somewhere. Back home, I spent sometime doing some stuffs on fashion - taking pictures. It took about two hours to get them done. I didn't want to have my lunch somewhere else - afraid that I might take too long to eat - as I usually do. So, not wanting to lose my time, I ate at my workspace, sitting on the floor while glancing through a fashion magazine. It was relaxing - seemed like taking a break at the same time. I continued my work a little bit more after that - after which I became quite exhausted. I actually went to bed late last night doing another paper work for a creative Christmas project - I guess that was why.

I took an hour and a half afternoon nap. My head was heavy and I gave myself another fifteen minutes allowance but when my alarm woke me up - they had gone but felt like a minute nap. Then, I had to get myself ready for the reconciliation service in the church - a spiritual preparation for Christmas. I got a nice parking space since we came early. Later, there were more and more people coming - like hundreds. By the time we came out, our car was blocked and had to wait for other drivers to move their cars. Good thing, no bad words or showing temper. A good time to practice immense patience - not only today and throughout Christmas season - but on a daily basis. In this reconciliation service, we had the opportunity to do our confession and receive the blessing - to be received not only before Christmas but more often - after which I often feel relieved with no holding back - a cleansing of the heart and soul. The best thing about getting reconciled with ourselves and our Creator is that we're open to the sure possibility of HEALING in many ways. Everybody wants to be healed - and we need others' help for that.

We concluded the day with good family dinner at a Chinese restaurant - sisters, mother and daughters' dinner since my dad preferred to stay at home. It's already late night now and I'll make a call to Ivan - to say 'hi' and 'good morning' for the 16 hour gap between us - across the ocean.

Had a morning out with my parents and sisters in town after church this morning. Went to a local restaurant for breakfast and ordered traditional local food like 'Nasi Lemak' and 'Rojak'. We also went to a houseware store. I already have in mind what to buy for Christmas gifts later - will come here on my own. At home I spent sometime doing my work on the computer and re-arranging my workspace. It has more space now than before and I feel more comfortable.

In the evening, we watched Dog Whisperer With Cesar Millan, an inspiring TV reality show. At the same time we learned - how to handle our two watchdogs. Being able how to understand and care for our pets and animals is a great contribution to nature and healthy environment. We need to do our part in caring for the world around us.

I was head over heels trying to finish some paperworks since yesterday. While waiting for my mom selling and shopping at the swap meet early this morning, I stayed inside the car for about two hours - drafting and writing. My goal had been to finish them by evening. Somehow I completed the first phase of my projects - ready for editing. Everything seems so fast and I'm chasing the time left for this year and before leaving. Now, my body is claiming for a weekend break. At the same time, I'm full of excitement and anticipation over the future - for which I prayed "Give me many more blessed tomorrows" because life is good and beautiful.

Some natural tips for healing of both body and mind - I was told by a friend that we need to laugh at least 15 minutes a day. That was exactly what we did while on an hour travel each morning to school, few years ago. I probably need that now - a real joke to make me laugh and keep me alive - to have a pure good laugh - rolling on the floor.

If I compare between my works which are piled on my desk and those of my parents on this piece of land, working on the soil is always blessed with green nature and healthy environment. After much patience, time and energy invested on the soil, now I see the fruits of their works not just recently but many years passed. Sometimes I wonder when are they going to sit and rest but just like my late grandparents, they continue to work even at the age in which they should take a break and relax. At the same time, I see in them having so much passion into relating with Mother Earth and in return they're blessed with good crops. For this I'm thankful for the gift of my parents who from the beginning have always been closed to earth and nature - and I on my part have learned to salute and respect that.

I was thinking of going out somewhere today but it was already late when I woke up. I stayed late last night to do my work. So, instead I spent sometime in the kitchen today making onion pickles and did the cooking too. At this age all I want is to be at home, making full use of whatever gift and talent I have - which means working solely from home. Just like many other housewives and home career persons, I want to spend more time with my family and be flexible with my time for other responsibilities. At the same time I have to remain open to changes and demands that will have to take away my wish and intention. As for me now, home career is the best but it's not for everyone. As much as outstanding qualification is needed for a professional career, the same attribute is needed for a truly home career person. We need to be prudent and stay focused in what we're doing.

So much of fashion stuffs today. Glanced through some fashion magazines belong to my sister which are about a year older - before they're sent to old magazine store. Read some interesting articles and observed the late 2000s fashion trends. I can't deny being inspired by the art work in fashion. It has been my sort of passion since I was little. Somehow someone else in the family has more sense of fashion than me. I had to give a hand, assisting my sister with her fashion photo shooting today - under the hot sun. That was a challenge but probably not as challenging as those portrayed in ANTM. Then I went back to my wedding gown project - could be hers for her wedding. For this I need my mom's help. She made wedding gown for her sister back in the early 70s. Seems it's all about creativity and art today and I guess this is what keeps us sisters, mother and daughters together - having things in common with regard to fashion style and home creativity.

Went out to town with my cousin today. Sent a parcel of my poetry book before heading for lunch with her. Had a brief tour at a newly opened mall and went to other stores - bake and craft shops. I had a good time away from my workspace. Seeing those pretty and cute items at the shops motivates me to make full use of my own creativity - which I tend to hide and forget many times.

At home I spent sometime reading a motivational book in Indonesian language by Wolfgang Bock. I can't find any translation in English but I would say the title as 'The Dark and Bright Sides' - how to put them into perspective and create positive energy in us.

Had been invited to attend an Advent gathering and visit but it was already dark when I got the message. Before, it used to be Christmas Carols from house to house. For us youths in those days, it was exciting and full of anticipation. There were changes over the years and at least the community in my place remembers to prepare for the coming big day by visiting families and praying together - which is often followed by food and drink shared among them.

There is more to life and I like the idea that each individual has the chance to shape his/her own life for the best - by looking at the positive clues and responding to them.

I found a dozen of old Christmas Cards which are still in good condition. I admit that I haven't been sending Christmas cards for years, taking advantage of e-cards and SMS. Besides "Merry Christmas" has been replaced with "Blessed Christmas" and "Happy Holidays". For me, it depends on the individual's interpretation. Being 'merry' doesn't mean celebrating with heavy drink and food but the heart which rejoices in the true meaning of Christmas. It's more like being merry in spirit. These few weeks of spiritual preparation are good times to remember the purpose of Christmas celebration - it's about Hope and not desperation. For this we are thankful for the gift of salvation. For those of us who believe, we should be more cheerful, loving, forgiving, wiser and stronger in overcoming our own life and its challenges. Looking at the world around us today, we need to be merry the right way and have a blessed Christmas - found in our own very hearts. Let's not despise the true meaning.

It has been raining heavily since afternoon. Some people were taking naps including me. When I woke up, some were already by their laptops and some were watching TV. The weather was fine in the morning. We went to church quite early to catch the 7:30 prayer service. The choir sang an Advent hymn as today marks the beginning of preparation time for the coming of Christmas. Then we went to have breakfast in town.

At home, I talked to Ivan over the phone. He knew I was bored yesterday because he read what I wrote here. So, he told me a joke - to brighten my day he said. We had a good laugh. I like his cheerfulness for which I seldom get bored when he's around.

Later, I was quite motivated to continue my wedding gown project while waiting for a friend to come over to pick a copy of my poetry book. She came and we chatted for a while. We would like to spend more time but she had to go and I didn't want her to be caught in heavy rain later or worst, flood - there was already a sign. But we have things in mind of what to do and where to go next. It'll probably be a group visit to the north. We'll have to wait for some to get leave from work. As for me, I have the freedom to arrange my time - though I have to work most of the time on weekdays and weekends.

It wasn't a boring day today but I spent sometime sitting on the sofa in my bedroom wondering how cyber age has changed even the life in the countryside. We don't really sit together again like last time but almost everyone sits with a notebook. We used to play guitar and keyboard and sing as a family. I just realized we haven't done that for a decade and a half.

For the lifestyle of this age, I have no idea how to change because I'm in it.

After coming back from the swap meet in town this morning, I just didn't feel like doing anything. In spite of that kind of boredom, somehow I managed to get few things settled. Feeling this way was like losing my appetite to eat as nothing seemed to interest me for certain periods of time. I wondered what else was interesting in this life. I guess it happened due to fatigue as I usually do my work until midnight.

There is a collection of DVDs underneath the player and I saw one which I had been wanting to watch but eventually forgot about it. It's The Social Network, a 2010 movie. So, I spent my time watching this worth to see movie. After all it's weekend and I need to unwind a little.

I was supposed to go to town with my mom this morning but she received a call from my aunt asking if she was free to visit my grandaunt in her late 80s. She has been unable to get up recently and so we decided to pay her a visit. I drove to her place and dropped them off while I went to town to buy groceries and have breakfast at a local cafe. When I picked them up later, I stayed for a while in her house, taking my time looking at old pictures and listening to her maid explaining about her health condition. When we were about to leave, I saw her in tears. It was sad for her but I also thought, younger or older, each one sheds tears. What she's experiencing right now is what one will experience when the time comes - I told myself, I'd better be prepared.

I also went to the shop I used to rent just to visit and get my document. I'm glad that a cousin has turned it into a profitable and useful place. A lot of works had been done the first time I moved here, with lots of repairs here and there in order to make it look nicer. It was supposed to be a place where I can rest and relax. At the same time a place where I can exercise some creativity in fashion - sort of a home boutique. I finally had to give it up unable to cope with me being here and there too. Somehow I have good memories of the place with some interior arrangements I made and it did serve the purpose - a shelter for me and my sisters whenever we came home late from work, a weekend vacation home, a venue for family parties and an inn for friends who came over to visit.

At home, I took out some patterns and cut fabrics I made before. It's actually a mother and daughter project to make a wedding gown. I haven't decided yet of what is it for until the whole dress is done. It's the second one after my own wedding dress. Somehow I'm so fond of making wedding dresses but haven't really had the time to take it as a full time project.

So much of today but I had good time breathing on fresh air outside the house. The weather was perfect in the afternoon with gentle breeze - then later followed by mild thunder in the evening.

Today is Thanksgiving Day over there in CA. Ivan will be celebrating without me but he has his family around. Wondering what they're going to have and do today but I'm sure it's going to be fun. We had plenty of good food last year, also in the previous years. Nice table setting and good laugh. For me it's a day of appreciation for all the good things we receive in our lives - and for the gift of life itself.

While here in my family home, I'm back to my work again. I just can't do much with interruptions but there is no way to avoid or to escape from the rain and thunder which often come any hour during the day - and it's like this almost everyday. We'll have to disconnect the internet cable and turn off the electrical main switch if the weather is getting worse. So, what I usually do is switching place - from my laptop to my writing pad, from my workspace to the living room, doing my other works whatever I can.

I guess it's not the place that matters so much but the person. How we handle the situations especially when we experience obstacles, constraints and restrictions. While I can take my time to sit and relax, it's not an excuse from using my time wisely. Staying away sometimes from electronic devices can be a good thing for the body. I find a certain kind of inner healing as I go outside the house and gaze at the green scenery - it's my Thanksgiving.

Pondering the meaning of relationship today - I see them everywhere. A family member has just engaged and right away they both looked for a house. Amazingly they have found one in just few days - a double storey house with four beds still in progress, not too far away from our family home. Looking at my parents who stick together for more than 40 years, I admire how they made it. Some others in the family have made it for more than 10 years - through ups and downs they made it. After a long marriage relation, it may not be as sweet as before but they stick together.

I see how important it is to preserve that relationship. I see marriage as a flower plant which we need to water everyday to keep it alive and fresh. The same goes with my own marriage. I shower it with love and prayers everyday. I look at my partner and I know he's irreplaceable. For this I thank God for him - for the gift of a one and only partner.

Today I spent quite sometime in the evening cleaning and tidying up my bedroom. It’s actually an extra room which my sister has turned into her dvd room. I feel comfortable with my workspace and I hope to be able to spend more time on my projects soon.

It’s quieter here in the countryside except for the sounds of nature – rain and thunder, rooster crowing early in the morning, dogs barking at squirrels on the trees, chicken looking for food, birds chirping and cricket sounds at night. As an avid fan of nature, these will help me get motivated to do my art projects. Going back to and keeping in touch with nature around us is a very healthy attitude - towards healthy living.

Though today is the first day of the week, I didn’t plan to start working on my projects. My little niece and nephews are around and always in need of our attention. Besides I needed to do some cleaning and tidying up after the engagement occasion last Saturday. Somehow, I felt tired in the morning probably because of lack of rest. I haven’t really rested since I came last Tuesday. We sat on the sofas watching Barbie and the Magic of Pegasus in the late morning. Towards the end of the animation movie, I felt asleep and moved to my bed. For the first time in many months, I took a long nap in the afternoon. I began cleaning the living room and the kitchen later in the evening with the children running around. I was kind of babysitting in between. So, definitely I couldn’t do my computer work but I’m happy to have them around. Their voices are telling me that I’m not alone in an island.

We are deeply saddened by the demise of the father of my sister in-law. Recalling him most as a loving father and warm in manners – every time we came to his house during Chinese New Year. We went to Beaufort today to pay our last respect. I met my brother and his family who came all the way from Miri by driving last night. I couldn’t express any word to my sister in-law. I felt her sadness and was speechless for any word of consolation. I was informed that her father had been sick and undergoing treatment for a while. He went to the Lord peacefully at home last Friday.

After the prayer led by a catechist in the house, we proceeded to church for the final blessing. The service was led by another catechist who was actually my former high school classmate. He gave a beautiful sermon on hope after death – that we’re just physically separated and will meet again. We left home after the final blessing since we had to attend the Sunday prayer service in another church in the evening.

As I see it, he had finished his mission as a responsible head of the family and for this he’ll be greatly missed and remembered.

Had only three and a half hours of sleep last night. I didn't make the 100 cups of pudding since I was missing one important ingredient. So I reserved them for Christmas instead. Still I had to wait until 2 a.m. to go to bed. At 5:30 a.m. my mom knocked on the door, waking me up asking for a ride to the Saturday swap meet in town. She doesn't drive, so I had to send her. When we came back, we only had about 3 hours to get everything ready. I was kind of rushing to catch the time. However, I managed to get myself ready by 10:00 a.m.

The group representing my sister's future fiance were his parents, other family members and legal representatives. They came around 11a.m. and they were about 30 of them. After more than an hour of discussion, filling in and signing on the papers, my sister who had to remain in her room finally came out. We proceeded with the engagement prayer led by a catechist where they both exchanged the engagement rings. Then the ceremony was followed by cutting of cake and lunch.

When I had my engagement, it was far simple and different from the tradition here. I remember on Christmas Eve in 2006, Ivan made an announcement about his proposal to me in front of his family. It was an overwhelming evening as his family members expressed their indepth views and feelings. And so we were engaged on Christmas Eve as Ivan put the ring on my finger. So, finally today my youngest sister has hers.

I couldn't spend much time to mingle around with our new family members and relatives as I had to leave to attend another cousin's wedding. I went with two friends who were kind enough to come with me. It was raining and some parts of the road were muddy. Somehow we managed to arrive at the wedding reception location. Met my cousin and the family and stayed for a while. There were music, dance and good food but we had to leave earlier afraid of being caught in heavy rain and flood.

I guess I was the last one to wake up this morning since I heard noises outside my room - people moving chairs and tables and loud voices - also birds chirping outside my window. I didn't go out to see but I went straight away to my laptop and start working on my art project. I was relieved to see a photoshop software installed in my old laptop. I never used it before. Though an old version, it offers me the good help. The thing about my work - I can't give any excuse to delay no matter what. I have to spare my time each day to do it. Then had a quick breakfast, shower, got ready and drove to town. I had my hair layer trimmed by an expert lady in a little salon. The cost is 10x less expensive than in SD - for just hair trimming. I also bought a list of kitchen items my mom asked me to buy.

Went home and prepared things for tomorrow - hadn't wrap the presents and iron my clothes. Then suddenly I felt sort of a pinch in my stomach. I realized I hadn't taken my lunch and no one was cooking. It was already coming to 3 p.m. I just realized everyone was so busy that they might have forgotten about food. So, taking a quick bite of crackers and a cup of milk, I did the cooking. Then everyone came into the kitchen to eat. Now I realize how important I am!

After taking my lunch I helped with the cake table decoration. It was unplanned. I just have to fix the cover since the other one bought by my sister was smaller and unable to cover the whole round table. I just did what I could to make it looks nice and neat. Unbelievable it took hours for just one table to fix. I still have another task to do. I have to make about 100 cups of puddings after this and it's already almost midnight. This is family life. It's family team working together and these are all done in the name of Love.

Again today I woke up early at 4a.m. unable to go back to sleep. The humidity made me uncomfortable even with the fan on. Most of them prefer fresh air than air conditioner, so they never set up one. Windows are open most of the time. Anyhow, I was happy to hear Ivan's voice on the phone. He wondered why I was awake at 4 in the morning though. Then, I took shower and got ready to bring my mom to the mini swap meet in town. Drove our family car and had it washed afterwards. Bought wrapping papers for the wedding and Christmas gifts. I was kind of excited to think about putting some creativity this Christmas and bring cheerful moods on everyone. I also took some pictures of my mom's little garden. Reminds me of my small space garden project.

At home, I wanted to do some works on my laptop but somehow I told myself to clean the outside of the house first. It took hours to do the sweeping and scrubbing. By the time I was ready to get back to my laptop, it began to rain, followed by thunder and lightning. We were forced to disconnect the internet cable. So I couldn't do anything but to wait. Obviously, this won't help me much with my online working environment. It's really slowing me down. So, I'm still trying very much to adjust myself with it and set up the right space and environment for my home career jobs.

Right now I'm quite exhausted and need to hit the sack as soon as possible. It had been a whole day. So, off I go.

Awakened at 3a.m. and was unable to go back to sleep. There is a DVD player in front of my bed with several DVDs. Picked one called Set Apart and watched it till the rooster crowed. Had my breakfast and did a quick cooking for lunch later. Then I went to my old laptop. It's pretty slow but still working. I just want to unwind today. I'm not that tired but just need adjustment a little bit - the weather and the environment. I can't avoid from wearing short pants and a tank top. It's hot and humid - like I'm out from a comfort zone of the just nice weather in SD. It's hard to get a day where the temperature is just perfect but either too cold or too hot isn't good for me. Glad that I'm not having sore throat or flu like last time.

I have lots of things in mind to do with regard to my home career jobs which is actually I'm not on a vacation at all. It's just a switching place of work and I will be back to work soon.

Safely arrived in my hometown today 11/15/2011, Wednesday. The weather was fine and the journey was smooth. Thanks for those prayers and kind thoughts. I had hours of sleep in the plane I guess because of fatigue. Watched 'The Help' and '127 Hours'. So, didn't feel the long journey so much. Was picked by my sister at the airport and we went straight to OldTown White Coffee. Had tea and curry noodle. Then we went home to send my stuffs and pick my mom to go shopping for my youngest sister's engagement this weekend. I also bought a gift for my cousin's wedding this weekend. After hours of shopping we went to eat again in a local restaurant. I ordered my favorite Tea Special and 'Soto' / chicken bee hoon soup. Now at home haven't showered, I feel like throwing myself into a pool of fresh water. It's hot here and one knows how uncomfortable I am physically. This week is going to be hectic preparing for the engagement. On the day of the occasion, I will have to leave after the ceremony to attend a wedding reception. But first of all, I need a good nap and rest if I can find.

I'm all ready with my backpack to take a 20-hour journey by plane. Leaving Ivan for the time being for just two months. I hope to have a happy and pleasant trip though I wish he could come along. I have my books to read and writing to do. So, I guess it won't be a boring journey. Every hour is precious even if I'm sitting for hours almost motionless. Will be a day ahead by the time I arrive in Asia — escaping two months of winter.

I now have my backpack ready for traveling. I'm relieved to see my workspace in perfect order. Have minimized my things and I'm content with that. I feel lighter. I had experienced moving out from several houses having to pack a household size of belongings and to get them picked twice. I had them sent by ship, plane, trucks, vans and cabs. Had to do lots of packing and unpacking. There are like nightmares tormenting me every now and then. There were lessons for me not to love hoarding things but to be able to let go and give away. I believe there is a connection between simplicity and happiness and I'm learning how.

On a very rare triple 11 today, I'm dreaming of a less hectic and simple life especially nowadays with all kinds of details to remember and paper works to do. Have listed down things which I can simplify; travel less and taking advantage of public commute to avoid the hassle of driving and keeping up with car maintenance, pick up delivery instead of going to post office so frequently, internet and online services, doing laundry and house cleaning once a week, grocery shopping once a month, having just one credit card for emergency and building credit score, daily heavy meal between lunch and dinner, joining one particular group instead of multiples, … etc. I would like to have those times few decades ago where we didn't have too many things to deal with. We had time to sit for hours in the quietness of the countryside life. It was so calm and peaceful. I still remember those moments at my grandparents' old house. Fine weather, gentle breeze, green scenery. It gives a happy feeling.

I'm more or less done with the list of things I needed to do this week. Exhausted but satisfied. These next few days will be cleaning and putting my stuffs in order so that when I leave for my hometown, I'll have peace of mind and peaceful trip.

Thinking already of a vacation but I don't think I'm entitled for it at the moment. I can only go without thinking of my working stuffs. What would be the best vacation? For me vacation shouldn't be exhausting such as something which involves shopping, traveling, partying or watching a concert. The best vacation for me is taking a good nap, without disturbance of any noise, being away from my workspace — the computer, where you don't see your kitchen. A pure nap — that's just what I need. But I do agree to include spa in the vacation. This body is really in need of rest and relaxation. I hope I can find it soon.

Trying to catch my time finishing what I'm supposed to have get done before leaving — my art projects, cleaning and tidying up my workspace, packing etc. But I'm just going to travel with my backpack, light and simple. I dislike pulling suitcases. Who would ever thought one day I will have to travel more often thousands of miles.

Being apart from each other for a certain period of time seems normal for Ivan and I. If it's in the time of more than 20 years ago, we would be just looking at the moon wondering how the other one is doing. He's a best friend, a brother and a parent who worries about things I may forget before leaving — reminding me to have my details ready, contact persons, the right food to eat, etc. I know he really cares and I'm actually a little sad that we won't be together this Christmas. He has already given me a gift. Well, that's life.

Somehow, being apart is kind of exciting. It's like going back to the first time when we met each other. More talking on the phones, more emails and more exciting news of each other. Whether we're together or apart from each other, we're always there for each other. I guess that's why we belong to each other.

On my way home from church this morning, I was stopped by a neighbor asking if I was available to spare my time to come to the newly opened chapel during the day — spending sometime in silence and meditation. I was actually considering to go after coming back from my travel. I had to tell her that this week is really busy for me with all the things I need to get done before leaving. I wasn't sure if that was an excuse.

Later as I was preparing to make some banana pancakes for breakfast, the phone rang. I went to answer forgetting the pancakes' right amount of ingredients. When I poured the mixture on the skillet, it didn't come out as I expected and worst I had to put it in a trash bag. Somehow the second try came out just okay. I heard myself grumbling as I ate half portion of the pancake. As I was about to finish my breakfast, there was another phone call which was actually a machine call from an airline regarding some missing data. I had to rush to get my data ready and made a phone call to the airline. Settled within minutes. But I grumbled again of how can they miss anything when I had the registration done before as a member? Anyhow it was updated and I moved on to the next thing I needed to do today. My mind was actually constantly on my work projects — on the computer. Somehow, I managed to get one done after hours of experimenting with multiple mistakes plus more of my grumblings.

After preparing some food for lunch, I came back to my computer. I was about to begin to work again when I got a call from Ivan who was out today, asking me to get ready for grocery shopping. At this time, I didn't grumble since it was a must to do knowing that I'll be leaving soon and I usually don't let him shop alone. By the time we came back from the plaza, it was already dark.

As I see it today, there was always something to keep me away from my computer and workspace. But when I look back it was all about me being busy. Then, I'm reminded by the neighbor's invitation in the morning. That could be the answer — to spend sometime in quality silence each day — then I will grumble and fret less.

Watched Rango in the late evening after juggling between house chores and my art project in the day. Just like this little creature, looking for his own identity and at times asking himself 'Who am I?', I'm sure in our pursue for better life achievement, there will be a time when we find ourselves asking the same question. In the end, in trying to justify oneself, it's not a matter of how better I am than others but what am I here for others. Each one is unique and special in his/her own way. Each one has something noble to give. If only we realize this — some thoughts of the day.

Had art tutorial with Ivan today. I'm lucky to learn it for free at home. Somehow I had to stop staring at the computer. After all it's Sunday and I need the weekend break.

It's cold today and I had to put the third layer of blanket on bed. It's even colder at night in which I'm usually awake till late to continue working on my project. I can't imagine going out to work early morning and coming back late evening in winter. I salute some friends for having that stamina. I guess this is one reason why I have to stay at home.

We concluded the day watching 'Tropical Thunder' with my brother in-law. Now, before hitting the sack, I'm trying to sit down, sorting out things before leaving for my hometown soon. I've tried my best for everything that I needed to do the past week and I'm more or less content with what I have accomplished for now. At this end of the day I just want to leave everything behind for a good rest — for tomorrow will care for itself.

So much of today. This morning I attended the opening of a new chapel built for the spiritual welfare of the people around here. It's just 5 minutes walk from home. I can't deny the importance of the spiritual aspect of our lives. Neglect it and there will be chaos, depression and confusion. I do still agree that prayer is our first and top priority.

During the day I was again back to my art project for hours. Most of the time I just have to trust in what I'm doing. Then we had a family early dinner at home. After washing the dishes, I went out with Ivan and my brother in-law to a donut shop to get some. I just felt like going out after long hours inside the room. It was a fine evening compared to yesterday which was raining heavily and windy.

Tonight the Daylight Saving Time ends in which we're gaining another hour back. It's a little confusing for me as I keep on checking my clock. It's a little strange with the change as time remains the same all the time in my country. We also had the chance to watch Melancholia at home which is available on demand. One should watch this at least once. It'll make us think and reflect. It's about the final hour. After watching this, it brings me back to my thought of spiritual life. Life doesn't have to end in emptiness but in an anticipation of a new life. I saw a nice phrase the other day saying 'Life is changed, not ended.'

As we're free to wear whatever we like at home, it's good to have them ready for any formal occasions such as interview, conference and meeting. I usually prefer darker colors, less accessories, very light make-up and quick ponytail hairstyle. It's up to the individual persons. There's no restriction in fashion but it's good to be sure that you're comfortable with it and feeling great!

Forcing myself to wake up this morning. Went to bed late after watching 'Unfaithfully Yours' last night. Somehow, I did the cooking today, spending sometime in the kitchen making potato salad, Rice Sides Cheddar Broccoli and shredded chicken for sandwiches while waiting for my book orders to arrive by the door. They did arrive. Then I was back to my computer work for a while and later had lunch with Ivan in the dining area.

Then times went so fast just like that. I was hoping the day was still early but time just doesn't wait. Today reminds me of how important it is to spend our time wisely — that one day we may not regret about wasted times in the pass. I'm reminded that every moment is precious — to treat our life well in virtue before it's too late.

We went to church this morning to celebrate All Saints. I can't help but to think about the saints, as people who have inspired humanity so much through their life living virtues. When I was teaching teenage students in school, I had tough times telling them how important their lives were — to summarize, that each of them was born to be an inspiration, even in the little kindness they do to others. I never blamed some of them for being unresponsive and ignoring my words of advice. I know they went through a lot. To be truly virtuous is hard work not only for the physical but also in spirit. It takes our whole lives to practice kindness. We're tested every moment and every day but we should never give up.

Had strain in the eyes after doing my art project on the computer today. Somehow I had to obey my inner voice asking me to stop for a while. So, I watched the 1998 'You've Got Mail' featuring Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan. Ivan and I had a good laugh. This story reminds us of how we met before. It's the cyber age. Almost everything about life is from computer to television and online. Instead of going out to rent this movie, we just rented it sitting down comfortably at home and there it was. I'm particularly moved by the part in which Kathleen (Meg Ryan) has to close her pretty book store because of another competitor. It's a fact that happens nowadays. Brick and mortar bookstores are closing and e-books are replacing. I still have my best memories of reading story books, mostly fairy tales, from the first library I went to in the early 80s. That kind of feeling and excitement seem irreplaceable. Having books around is like traveling on a ship by myself — an adventure of the mind.

Life is full of decision makings, I guess simply because we don't know what will happen next, tomorrow or in the future. In making our decisions we can only do what is best at the very moment hoping it would be exactly as what we've planned. Making decision is a preparation to overcome and tackle what's to come next.

Decision after decision, that's how we live. Some are easy to make, some are difficult. How do I make my decision? Often I don't like to jump but when I'm prompted to, I may have to. Based on experiences, though I wasn't even less than 100% successful and perfect, but decision made with clear mind and heart will tell you where to go. Making decision with chaos in the mind and brokenness in the heart should be avoided. It's good to sit down, relax and calm down first.

What if we have to make a decision in an instant? Nothing else but having the knowledge and being well-informed beforehand, so that we know what we're doing and deciding. Otherwise, we'll have to accept whatever consequence it would be. What we are now could be the results of our decisions made before. Good or bad, we all have rooms to improve for the better. 'Experience is the name we give to our mistakes' as it says on my calendar.

Another Saturday and the whole week will be gone just like that. I remember when I was in secondary or high school, my only concern about time was waking up to go to school and waiting for the time to go home. Everyday I would stare at the clock on the wall and of course the happiest moment was walking out from the classroom for home. Now, it's like having the clock attached to me all the time.

It's true that 'we have no nobler or more valuable possession than time' — written on my inspirational calendar. Money, wealth and position can be found but time once gone is gone. My concern now is how much time left do I have? This unforgiving time is actually a good friend and companion. It reminds us to spend our moments fruitfully. Use our time well all the time and we'll be showered with happy memories. One day we can say to ourselves — we have done our part and the best we could.

Just like farmers will have to wait for months to see their crops grow, I see myself in the same way. Being a home career person, I have to continue working everyday, day and night. There is no specific time to take a break but it can be anytime in between. Then, after the hard work, I can expect to receive my rewards plus some sense of fulfillment. This year has been more like an entrepreneurship for me. Studying, experimenting and working at the same time, in the midst of all kinds of crises the world around us is experiencing. No matter under what circumstances, life has taught me never to give up but to keep up the good work. I'm inspired by many people who strive each day to live and make their lives interesting and valuable. Obviously it's not easy but we just need the faith to take it easy and move on.

Counting days for my next travel to Asia. I'm more concern about how to get things done before that and how to keep things going on as usual after that, with regard to my routine works at home. I've been comfortable working within my workspace without much hassles. I know I need to sit down and arrange my time, the place and tasks to be done. Most of all, I need the solo stays by the seaside for myself. Thinking of a nice resort within my hometown. Either that or the one isolated where one would look for better line spots to communicate on the cell. Sometimes we need to be just with ourselves for a little while.

Today was like an art work marathon for me, studying and working on my art project using the tools which I used to ignore. I just came to know this software was purchased and didn't come together with the computer. Thanks to my husband. It's like being given a piece of land and tools to do the farming. I just realized, I actually have almost everything I need to do the work. It was fun and exciting, so much so that I almost refused to get up and go eat.

I'm always fascinated by problem-solvers, some of whom I read from motivational books or articles. Twenty years ago, I remember finding a book on Positive Thinking by Norman Vincent Peale in a small library. Since then the book was my favorite companion. I noticed that if we honestly ask the wisdom from above to solve our problems we'll be given it. We can't be wise enough on our own if it's not given. Solving our problems wisely by looking at the chances and opportunities around us is like being a scientist of our own. It's kind of interesting.

Working is like running in a stadium, competing and trying to win. I often find myself running, not to compete but trying to catch my time in order to survive. No matter how well we're in managing our time, we can never be so sure of what is to happen next. We can only see the horizon and guess what's beyond. We can get ourselves well prepared but we can't be too obsessed with our plans. I guess life is teaching me today to focus on and do my works one at a time, since there are too many options of which to do first and how I wish I could do them all.

At the same time, I'm also anticipating some exciting events coming — weddings, engagements, reunions, visits, retreats, travels and solo stays by the seaside. I hope I will have enough time for all these. When I look at all these, I thank God for giving me jobs to do. I'm happier and grateful for the chances to see life in a meaningful way and indeed it's beautiful.

Woke up straight from bed to my working desk this morning and went online. It was kind of exciting waiting for some results of what I had been working on. Well, I'm hoping for the best. We had the music on, listening to our favorite band to keep us awake for the day.

They had a concert just minutes away from our place last year but unfortunately we couldn't go since the best seats had been fully booked. We didn't want to watch from behind. I was hoping to be able to go out somewhere in town on Sunday but after coming back from the church this morning, I didn't feel like going anywhere. Instead I went back to my writing and proofread again. It's not an addiction but I guess a vocation. Then I proceeded with the submission. Now, I can think of something else to do.

Ivan and I went out to take a walk on the other side of the neighborhood. It was fun to see some houses decorated with halloween ornaments. I like those creative stuffs though they're 'freaky' — head in a bottle, black and red spiders, spider webs, skeletons, vampires, halloween pumpkins, skull in black hooded cloak, cemeteries and a house with a welcoming notice for Elvis. Apart from that I also noticed a house with Christmas lights inside. That was pretty. We had a fun tour in our neighborhood today.

Spending most of my time today editing and proof-reading a writing project with Ivan. I'm fortunate to have a companion who is willing to help and so concern about what I'm doing. So, I don't feel alone in my struggle to finish my work. This is what companion is for. I woke up early this morning and set my mind and heart to once and for all finish this task but without him I wouldn't have been able to do it. In spite of that he did the cooking.

Had been thinking of a retiring home again. A quiet and peaceful place where we will grow old together. I guess for those who want to live longer there is no choice but to prepare to be old. It's not that bad.

Life is beautiful if we take our time — to savor every moment, like that of an admirer who gazes upon a painting in complete silence. There is no rush. Even a few minutes sitting beside your loved one can be a quality time spent together — which you'll remember one day and you don't regret about it.

Juggling between doing my laundry and editing my writing project today, I finally had them done. Now, I wish I could go out somewhere but I'm restless until everything is in perfect order. I have about three more weeks to get things done before I leave for a couple of months. It's making me tensed a little. It's never easy being a perfectionist. It's a lot of headaches and a long way to being satisfied. Seems a problem but when things are properly done there is less regret later. It means investing a lot of time and energy into the work and laziness is an enemy. I'm already thinking of a reward to myself after completing some of these tasks. Otherwise I'll be bored with work when it becomes a routine without something to motivate and sparkle my mood. After a tiring day of work we deserve to give ourselves a treat - be it a good dinner, a massage, a funny movie or a pretty cupcake. Creative people know how.

In spite of constraints and restrictions in this life, I'm consoled with how blessed I am to be able to continue living each day. As it is so normal to complain, it is probably unusual to be grateful everyday. How many of us are thankful each day even if we're in the midst of a crisis?

Today I'm reminded to see the good things in everything. I believe this is the way to be happy - no envy, no grudge, no complaint. Just do what is good and right - and what should be done. Yes, today has taught me to be thankful all the time. We can't do this alone. We all need God's help.

My planner for these last months of 2011 is almost packed. Bought my traveling tickets today and will be leaving for my hometown in a few weeks time. There isn't much time left to continue my other projects. So, I guess I'll have to spend day and night daily working on the most important ones especially this writing project which bothers me and makes me restless until it's submitted again. I have my desks messy with papers, books and craft materials, and how I long to see them clean and clear. At least no one is yelling at me to clean the mess. This workspace is my territory and Ivan understands that.

We had photograph tour today outside the house, taking pictures of nature for a project. Working with someone actually helps as two heads are better than one.

So much thoughts about friendship today as I received some good news from them. I realized that without them my life would have been empty and monotonous. These are friends who have stood by me in my dark moments. Friends who accept me as I am, trying their best to understand my situations and best of all who pray for me. Sometimes I regret for not being able to do more for them. So, I dedicate every Wednesday for all of them, to remember and pray for their intentions. I'm also looking forward for reunion with some friends in a few weeks time.

Had a little tough time with my editing today and had a little fight too with my partner and editor but we burst into laughs after that. We finally came into a decision to re-do some parts concerning photography. So, there will be photo shooting jobs the next day but at least I'm satisfied it's for the better.

Physically tired today. I guess due to days and nights working on my projects. So, my body is kind of telling me to stop for a while. I can't wait for 'harvest time' in which I don't have to worry so much about the details of my works. It'll be pretty much easier later on when most of the foundations have been done. Right now everything is still in the beginning level but things are progressing quite well too. I've been going through a lot of self discipline especially with regard to time management these few months - in fact coming to fifth month. It's a labor deserved to be paid a good pay at the right time. It's like an internship as they were months filled with studies and works at the same time. I'm glad I went through fruitful months in spite of the ups and downs. Something to be thankful about.

I went early to church this morning and listened to profound message from the sermon which stated that living in this world for us is like having dual citizenships. One of this Earth and the other is of Heaven. We pay what belongs to this Earth, we also pay for what belongs to Heaven. Between fulfilling the demands of this world and those of our faith, often leads us to conflict. The sermon was concluded with question about which to choose if we only have one choice, this mortal world or the immortal after life? I know my answer.

After breakfast and working on something on the computer, I turned to my craft project again. I was missing some materials, so I decided to get them later but Ivan asked if I wanted to go for a walk and eat somewhere. So, I went with him, rented a dvd, bought the sewing materials I needed and ate at a pizza joint.

It was a hot afternoon but wasn't burning hot like some other days and I noticed drivers went crazy on the road, one showed bad manners by showing improper sign language and restaurant workers got pissed off easily. I remember watching a short story 'Touched with Fire' by Bradbury about two retired insurance salesmen who tried to warn a hot temper lady to be aware of her surroundings especially on that very hot day. How her manners can become contagious and irritates others. One of the men said that at 101°F (38.3°C) crimes are likely to happen, that people tend to get easily irritated from the heat and humidity. Well, bad mood, irritation and anger are not just caused by weather. Often it's also because of 'hormonal imbalance' they call it, as I experienced myself and noticed for years in women. Either of these, 'an angry, irritable or sullen state of mind' has to be tamed for our own good. Managing our temper is crucial in order to stay healthy too because it increases blood pressure, heart rate and wrinkles.

Working from home needs a lot of faith in oneself and in the Divine. Most of the time we just have to trust in our ability and in the providence. This is not easy when we encounter obstacles to achieve our goal. These obstacles can hamper our zeal to move on but if we have that faith we'll surely find our way. As this saying goes;

Pessimists see difficulties in their opportunities;

optimists see opportunities in their difficulties.

As for today, I did my part waking up early after a few hours sleep (in fact went to bed at 2 a.m) to continue working on my crafting project. At one point I asked myself if I could just focus on one job to make life easier. But I found that it's not the case for a home career person because in front of me lies a vast field of green grass. There are plenty of talents and gifts to be utilized. These are the opportunities waiting to be taken. It's just right not to ignore them but to take some good efforts to see what we can do with our own natural abilities and skills, and thus make a good living out of them.

Working non-stop today, from my computer managing some sites to the sewing machine for crafting, and studying in the late evening. I had been studying on home career management with regard to workspace and services available for home career person. As an entrepreneur, there are still a lot more to learn and it takes time. There are shortcomings as a beginner and I need to be patient with myself. Was feeling tired being in the room most of the day. I'll have to take a break and do something else tomorrow. Haven't done any house chores yet. So, tomorrow will be a lot of cleaning. It takes a lot of patience to see the fruits of one's work - so is mine.

Did editing job today for my writing project. My work went smooth without interruption till evening except for lunch. Hoping to be able to submit it within this week. For me with regards to work, there is no option in this life. Either we go out to work or stay at home and work. There are other reasons besides money. By working we participate in giving out our part, to share our talents and gifts for the good of the community. The thing about home career is that, we probably have lesser stress working on our own - within our own commands because we know when to stop and take a break without sneaking out. Which ever it is, work can be stressful if we force ourselves to do something against our will or for reason other than our passion for the job. Nowadays stress has more harm than the food we take. It needs to be overcome. We can't always get the right job we want but there are jobs to be done anywhere - paid or not. I believe that if I work properly, honestly and patiently even if I'm on my own, without supervision, rewards will follow - rule of nature.

It was hot today that I had to turn on the fan. The weather made me physically weak and I didn't feel like doing any work. Somehow the thought of regretting later motivated me to do my sewing. I had aprons to sew in which I knew I wouldn't be able to finish in a day but I had to start sewing them. I wish I could do my sewing without interruption but I need to be flexible with my time. There are other works to be done too. I need a lot of patience and forbearance in my writing, designing and crafting jobs - especially being my own boss at home.

Went grocery shopping in the morning. Brought the cart and took the bus to shop at the nearby Target. It took about 2 hours for everything to get done - from waiting for the bus, shopping and till I got home. There weren't many people in line. So the shopping was fast. Getting a driving license for here is not yet in my mind as public transportation is very convenient and comfortable. They're available every half an hour except on weekend.

The manufactured home I'm thinking about is even closer - just walking distance. With public transportation, I can get access to Yardage, Jo-Ann, Seafood City, Chinese, Mexican and Thai restaurants, Filipino grocery stores, hospital and public library within minutes. Thanks to such convenient system - plus strategic place and peaceful home to live. It's still a dream but as the poem by Langston Hughes (partly in my calendar) says;

Today is Columbus Day. It's a public holiday for some states. As for me today, I had a good time kicking back as I deserved it - before getting back to work the next day. I still have to go back to my writing project, do my website projects and I also have my fabrics waiting to be sewn, art works to be done and early packing to do before leaving in a few weeks time. As I rested today, I had in my mind things which I would like to have and do - a peaceful retiring home - was actually looking for a manufactured home around here, to live a simpler and slower pace of life - while keep on working in rhythm with nature around me.

Today we went to Fall Festival held by the Church nearby. I was happy to get my halo-halo to fulfill my wanting for an ABC . This is my second time coming to fall festival by our neighborhood which is held once a year. It was hot today just like last year, and having my delicious shaved ice was just right. We met our friends and chatted for a while. We didn't stay long but we had the time to watch some music performances. It's good to go out sometimes, being away from my desk and computer for a while.

Later in the evening, I took time to watch a series of Ray Bradbury short films - which are worth to see.

Was quite occupied today doing some product studies and filing jobs. Looking at the calendar, it's only three weeks away from now towards November. Time is really so fast or is it because I'm so much occupied. My writing proof arrived unexpectedly today which I need to do a quick editing and will have to wait for other editors to do the checking too. Honestly, I can't wait for it to end so that I can begin other projects right away. This work is really taking my time but it's for the better.

Later in the evening, I watched the 2011 Source Code. It's a science fiction. After watching the movie I can conclude that there is a need to continue living and live a happy life even if it's in a virtual world.

Taking sometime to do my homework - studying the products I'm using and promoting too. I had been in MLM before after responding to some invitations but I was too busy with school and work. Now that I'm working at home, I can focus on this mutual marketing products which I'm grateful for have been introduced too. It's good to see some passive income coming. I admit that those products are quality ones and I'm looking forward to get more for myself. As we use them daily, they also help us to economize - from house care to self care. They help us with our budget because we're getting back from what we purchase. I'm happy for the positive feedbacks from my members. For a home career person, this is an opportunity not to let go.

Did yard work and house cleaning today. So, I didn't really have the chance to do my computer work. It was very windy last night and it also rained - and cold too. There was mess everywhere outside and I had to sweep those autumn buds at the backyard. Seems more work in autumn. Later in the afternoon, I made my own lunch as Ivan was out today. I just made sweet and sour shrimps and served it with herb rice. I also made simple onion pickle - a local recipe from home. I used the chilies grown in a pot at the backyard. When it's only me in the house, I can make my favorite local food but if Ivan is here then I'll have to eat what he eats - different tastes.

Autumn season is already here. I usually get a little worried about the coming winter season. I prefer the climate in spring and summer. Last year I was able to escape from the extreme cold of winter and I hope this year too. But it will mean to be away from Ivan and our home here. Clothing wear is unpredictable at this time. I may have to wear my jacket even if it's hot sometimes. It can get cold anytime. When it's cold, it means freezing cold - like being inside the fridge. This is how I explain to the people back there in my tropical country. Besides, the thing about winter is that I won't be able to attend Christmas eve. Good thing, San Diego is snow free. But I admit the glittering houses on Christmas winter nights are so pretty, as if I'm in a fairy tale land. Between the prettiness of Christmas and the shivering cold I have to choose whether to be here or there where the sun always shines hot and it rains a lot.
